Thursday Night Rides

Pedals to Pints Season 9 is upon us!

Join us every Thursday night from May through October for a social bike ride and a cold beverage (or two!) at Watermark Brewing Company in Stevensville.

The Pachyderm Pedalers promote inclusivity and welcome riders of all abilities, ages, shapes, and sizes on any bike. Families are welcome!

We gather on Lawrence Street just south of the brewery at 6:15 p.m., and the wheels roll promptly at 6:30 p.m.!

We offer multiple pace groups based on the riders in attendance.

All groups ride for an hour (or so).

Quick Ride Group Notes:

Ride with the pace group that allows you to carry on a conversation while pedaling

  • Be Predictable – ride in a straight line and at a consistent speed. Only ride as close to another rider as you feel comfortable. Try not to overlap wheels. Do not surge, gap, or separate. Group rides are not intended to set PRs or KOMs. Use of aero bars while riding in a pace line is prohibited.

  • Communicate to other riders any changes in speed or direction, road hazards, pedestrians, and vehicles. Call out “car back”, “slowing”, “stopping”, “HOLE!”, etc. as needed. Communicate calls with an echo throughout the group. Use hand signals when safe to do so. Coordinate turns and moves by following the group leader.

  • Avoid Riding More Than Two Abreast – It’s illegal in Michigan. Stay as far to the right of the lane as possible. Never cross the center lines of the road. Ride in two distinct parallel rows when riding side-by-side. Only pass other riders on the left and alert them by saying, “On Your Left” to pass safely.

  • Be Courteous at Intersections and With Motorists – Obey intersectional traffic signs and signals.

  • Communicate oncoming traffic and visually check for cars yourself. Re-start slowly (lag) after intersections and turns for the group to stay together. Wait for the back of the group to say “We’re On!” after crossing an intersection or making a turn before resuming the targeted group pace. Always give motorists a friendly wave when they pass or wait for the group.
